What is the biggest turn-off for you in music?
Are there any aspects of music that just bother you so much, that keep you from enjoying the rest of the music?
A particular sound, vocal style, guitar playing that you simply cannot stomach for whatever reason?
For me, I absolutely cannot stand that pop-punk guitar playing style or the vocals. They instantly bring to mind terrible teen movies and MTV loving, skate-boarding, punk poser surfer dudes who worship Bam and Jackass.
Equally annoying to me are those whiny emo vocals and the lyrics that come with.
What about you?

It depends on the kind of music. I don't like growling and death grunts in metal, but I can accept screaming once in a while in certain circumstances.
I hate when the singer sounds like they're about to start fucking crying. Go to hell, Bright Eyes, you faggot.

Re: What is the biggest turn-off for you in music?
My biggest turn-off in music is hard to understand lyrics. I mean when I do listen to a song for the words, I'd like to be able to understand what's being said. Thus the reason, I don't care for much rap. They tend to make words up.

A lot of lyrics in songs are complete rubbish in my opinion, unless they are trying to narrate a story like in Bal-Sagoth or something.
Just my opinion though.

Re: What is the biggest turn-off for you in music?
My biggest turn-offs are crappy vocals, or just vocals that don't appeal to me like death vocals. Also, horrid lyrics, repetitive beats (i.e. rap), repetitive themes throughout songs (with exceptions), and slow and somber accoustic guitars (i.e. some country) are annoying. I'm sure I could go on but then I'd be getting to specific in genres and not just things about any music that can turn me away.

Wait a minute...you dislike Death Metal vocals, yet you can tolerate the pseudo tough-guy Hardcore vocals by 3 Inches Of Blood's secondary singer?

lol, alright, you have me there, but I much prefer their lead singer over the background vocalist. I guess the main reason I can tolerate it is because he only comes in at certain parts of the songs and doesn't sing all the way through.

I hate that grunting shit they do in certain metal genres. It's like...grow a voice box, freak.
But I mean...that's just me.

j/k :p
I don't really have any turn-offs...except for when the music I'm listening to has absolutely no melody

Umm, of the music you haven't liked still had melody in it.
You just can't seem to look past certain vocal styles or raw production or whatever.

Re: What is the biggest turn-off for you in music?
I'm fairly certain that Gorogorth had no melody to it. It was mono-pitched, vocally. What I meant, and I can't believe I have to further expound upon this, however, is that I don't like music that has LITTLE to no melody and has no relation to me as a person. I like melodic music that I can relate to...and I can't relate to this metal nonsense. My tastes in music changes with the season

Re: What is the biggest turn-off for you in music?
Dude, stop fucking bringing up Gorgoroth!
I don't even like them much, and I never reccomended them to you
There is so much variety of music out there, even in metal, and you just seem to not like Metal much in general.
But hey, that's your choice.
