Recent Album purchases

Got some new stuff yesterday:

Testament - The Formation of Damnation $14.99 new
Exodus - Tempo of the Damned $8.95 used
Dio - Master of the Moon $4.95 used

Haven't had a chance to listen to them yet, but hopefully I'll get a chance a little later today.

Somebody told me Tempo Of The Damned was supposed to be good though.

Testament's new album is great. The original guitarist, Alex Skolnick, is back in the band, and Chuck Billy sounds better than he has on previous albums. As for the Dio album, it's good, but not like, "comparable to the classics" great or anything.

I'm listening to Exodus right now. The music is good, but the vocals aren't that great, they sound too "throaty" or something. It's not a terrible album so far, but not something I'd listen to a lot.

Yeah, I heard that the new Testament was supposed to be good.

The Dio album is one of his lesser known, but glad to hear it's decent.

Oh, and is that your first Exodus album?

The Singer on Tempo is the one on most of their other albums, so i'm not sure how familiar you are with their other albums.

Yeah, it's my first. I thought I'd try something different.

To be honest, i'm not especially familiar with Exodus myself.

Many people seem to think Bonded By Blood was their best album however, and the singer on that wasn't Steve Souza.

I picked up Helloween's Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1 for $8.95 used yesterday. Cool stuff.

I only have Keeper 2 myself, and I only heard like 1 song off the first album ever.

Need to get Keeper 1 someday.

You know, I really ought to buy more CDs... I did buy Sweeney Todd soundtrack from Wal-mart for $13.88 the other day.

I got another Helloween CD a few days ago, The Time of the Oath for $9.99 used. I haven't listened to it yet but I'm going to here soon.

I heard Time Of The Oath was supposed to be one of their better CD's from the 90's, but I never did get to hear it yet myself.

Tell me how it is when you listen.

It's not bad. The music is the usual power metal stuff and while the writing isn't that great, the lead singer does a pretty good job. Not a bad album by any means, but not "classic" either.

The last cd I bought was Panic At The Disco's Pretty. Odd. Everything else I've just been downloading music from. I'm too poor to buy any music.

I haven't been buying as much music as I used to, but I try to be at least a few albums every month if possible.

Haven't bought anything this month yet though.

Metal Church - Metal Church $9.99 new
Metal Church - Blessing in Disguise $9.99 new

Some of these like Overkill and Blind Guardian I bought just to check out since I've never heard much by them. Exodus I bought because I wasn't sure if Steve Souza was the vocalist, and even though he is, he sounds more like the guy from Overkill on this one and the music has the classic thrash feel, so I think I'll like this one better than Tempo of the Damned. I've heard a couple of songs by Metal Church and decided since they were cheap I'd pick up their CDs. And Power Quest, Helloween, and Iron Maiden I already knew would be awesome.

Quite the nice selection, but I don't think I have ever listened to Metal Church before, but they are supposed to be excellent.

Where did you buy these CD's anyway? A local independant store or what?

All of them except Power Quest and the 2 Metal Church CDs I bought at a "local" (more like 2 hours away) store. Those other 3 I bought at FYE.

Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero - $5.00 from a flee market
Portishead - Third - for $9 something from walmart.com, should get it anyday now.

$9 for Portishead is pretty sweet as well!
