Upcoming books you are looking forward to Empty Upcoming books you are looking forward to

Post by Morbid Wed Feb 06, 2008 3:05 pm

Much like the threads for upcoming games and albums, I decided to start a thread for the discussion of upcoming books that we can't wait to be released!

Currently the book i'm most looking forward to is Starcraft - The Dark Templar Saga Book 3

Yeah, a book related to a game. Kinda sad, right?

Are there any books that YOU are anticipating?

Any new ones by Stephanie Meyer or Stephen King. I would say Anne Rice but she quit writing ones about the vampires and witches and became more religious...

Well, I always like Stephen King's books...and I have quite a number of them actually.

As for Anne Rice, not my bag.

Vampires and Witches can be cool, but not her style really.

Before I moved, I had all his books that were out at the time. Now... I have a couple.

I'm really looking forward to the book Bret Easton Ellis is currently working on. I don't really keep up with the literary scene so much as I do with my favorite writers, so that's all I've got for now. Smile

Well, he started out as one of the established 'Brat Pack' authors along with Jay McInerney. His first two novels were more about the moral depravity of today's youth as they're being exposed to drugs, sex, and overall dissatifaction at too early an age. American Psycho was the - very graphic - portrait of a serial killer, who was inspired by his own father. Glamorama was pretty much him picking apart modern society, and Lunar Park, behind the cover of the plotline, was a look at how distanced the youth is becoming to the real world.

tl;dr: the evils, disappointments, and depravities of society. all covered by a plot line, of course.

Oh shit, he's the guy who wrote American Psycho?

I'm surprised his name didn't ring more of a bell with me then Sad

American Psycho is an excellent book and film, so I should check out more of his stuff.

Yeah man, do it! He's a great writer. His current project is actually a sequel to his first novel, Less Than Zero.

Lunar Park is probably my favorite by him. Just finished it. Smile

Didn't they make a film out of Less Than Zero also? I remember that Danzig had some involvement with the soundtrack.
