Games you'd have never discovered without someone's help
Do you own any games that you probably would have never owned if someone else hadn't suggested them to you, or given them to you, or somehow helped you get into that game?
Most recently for me is the Disgaea series, which Grave got me into. I also would have never played Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus (and, in turn, Abe's Oddysee) if someone hadn't given it to me.

Great thread idea!
I can think of a number of games that are like that with me.
If somebody had never suggested Makai Kingdom to me, i'm not sure if I would have ever played it or not.
My playing of Makai Kingdom in turn made me want to buy La Puccelle Tactics, and Disgaea.
There are some other games like that, but this is the first one that came to mind for me.

Well... A good friend gave me a copy of Final Fantasy 8 which got me into the FF series. Wes got me into the Smackdown Vs. Raw type games. Ma-ya got me into the Persona and Shin Megami series (I worship her for that too!) Arkas' continued praise for Guitar Hero and Rock Band got me playing those. That's all I can think of for now.

Oh, that reminds me!
A friend of mine got me into Secret Of Mana,Lufia, and even Final Fantasy VI! While I may have discovered them eventually myself
Before playing FFVI, I was into the Dragon Warrior and Phantasy Star series a lot. Funny enough, I like those series more than FF still. Final Fantasy I through VI are excellent though.

I think, while overhyped, the latter FF games are pretty good too. If you can get into. For me, it's not hard as I like most RPGs made.

I like most RPG's, and I even will admit that I found FFVII to be fairly enjoyable. After FFVIII though, it's been getting worse and worse.

Eh, I found FFXII to be quite the game. I liked how the battle system was done. Sure, it was cheap as hell later on in the game but for some of the optional bosses it came in handy.

I didn't care for the battlesystem at all, and you already know my thoughts on Action/RPG type battlesystems.

Venom, I'm loving the threads you start. Very creative and thought-provoking questions. Uh, honestly, I would've never discovered Chrono Trigger if it weren't for an old friend of mine, Tyler. I traded three cheeseburgers for the game and I never regretted it. I beat the game 50+ times...that's how much I loved it. Hell, I didn't even know what a role-playing game WAS until I had played CT.
