What was your first game system?
Most of us have been playing games for many years now, but how did it all begin?
What was the first game system that you owned, and when did you get it?
My first system that I owned was the original Nintendo Entertainment System, back in the late 80's. This was the package that came with 2 controllers, a light gun, and Mario Bros/Duck Hunt.
A few days after getting the system, a relative gave me Castlevania as a present which made me absolutely ecstatic!
How about the rest of you folks?

Re: What was your first game system?
First system was the NES. I want to say it was bought for my dad, as he played it the most but me and my sister played it as well. I played Super Mario Bros. a lot. Thoug I also played Castlevania 2 and the two Zelda games a good bit. But I loved Duck Hunt.
Also... This thread seems familar. Where could I have seen it before? lol

Sega Genesis -- My grandmother bought it for me for 100 dollars in I believe '93. Came with Sonic the Hedgehog and Lion King. lol
Lets just say that got me hooked. I was already playing Genesis and NES at my cousins house when I was 3. 3!

The first system I ever played was the Atari 2600 when I was around 2 or 3.
My first game that I ever played was Pac Man I believe, in the arcade if i'm not mistaken.

Well, I can safely say my kids' first sytem they have ever played was the PS2. Though now my eldest likes to mess with Cooking Mama on the DS.

A NES. I had a couple of games such as LoZ and Super Mario 3. God was it fun. But now I only have a Wii

Re: What was your first game system?
My first was the good ol' NES. We got one back in '89 or so and I was playing all sorts of stuff in the years to come, but I remember spending most of my time with the Super Mario Bros. games. I mainly played the first and third games, because I sucked at the second game back then.

Re: What was your first game system?
First system was the terrible Atari 2600. Now mind you, this system was great when it first came out, but my father bought this instead of the badass Nintendo Entertainment System. I was so pissed off...I actually rejoiced when my sister broke the system. What a worthless pile of pestrommi dogshit!

Re: What was your first game system?
The NES was my first. I then got a Sega Genesis, PS1, Super Nintendo PS2, N64 and now a 360.

Niice.
When I first got the NES, I felt like a real badass. I don't know why...I felt like I was finally a cool kid of my neighborhood. Back in the day when NES was big, anyone who was anyone had an NES. I mean, anyone who had an NES would have people just literally FLOCKING to their houses just to play. Man, times back then were crazy...shit, I remember when Mario Bros. 3 first came out and everyone just crapping a turd in their pants (figuratively speaking, lol) over the graphical achievement of Mario. We were all kids back in the day...we were impressed by anything that was new, really. I mean, we were so impressed by Moonshoes, lol. And Nickelodeon Gack! And all sorts of other dumb things...those were the good ol' days...(sigh...)

Re: What was your first game system?
I remember at my birthday party one year, we all just crowded around the TV playing NES games.
That's all I did back then, play NES at friends houses and mine.
That was about the only time period I was especially social, and we were united by our love of gaming.
Nothing else mattered.

Re: What was your first game system?
Well, most people had an NES for a first system.
Truthfuly, my first one was the 64, which I still have. I can't tell you how many repairs it went through *puts on more duct tape*.
my first game for it was LOZ:OOC. I have a gamecube and a Wii now, as well as the LOZ collecters edition...
I can't help but to keep the old thing.

Re: What was your first game system?
If it was possible, I'd still have my first system. I think the worst any of my systems have gone through was the PSP (the first one I owned) was dropped from about 3 ft. high and it had one dent on it.

Re: What was your first game system?
The psp was only DESIGNED to beat the DS.
I read that in a magazine once, I can't say how much I agree.

Wow, fancy that...and I always have heard horror stories about how easily the PSP breaks.
At least it survived that little fall.

Re: What was your first game system?
...just be glad your first system wasn't the Atari 2600. I spent much of my childhood being very bitter 'cause I still had to go to friends' houses just to play the fuckin' NES. It pissed me off to no end, actually. It was like if you didn't have a Nintendo, then you seriously weren't cool, man. You were actually lame. That's how crazy the dichotomy was with us kids. Cool kids = NES, lame kids = no game system, PC, Atari, Colecovision(sp?), etc. I was already Asian in a mostly white city, but now I gotta be the loser without a Nintendo? THANKS, DAD, SERIOUSLY! I mean, don't get me wrong...I still played the hell out of the Atari, but what else am I going to do? The Atari, at best, kept me from killing myself, lmao! But...shit still sucked.

I remember that my parents nearly bought me a Sega Master System instead of an NES.
While I got a Master System eventually anyway, i'm still missing a Phantasy Star I cartridge

I seriously hope you are kidding...
Phantasy Star I was effin awesome, and it was pretty damn groundbreaking at the time.
The game is just as much fun today, as it was way back then.

Re: What was your first game system?
Odd comparison you made with Startropics to Phantasy Star, since the games were of a very different style.
Either way, I LOVE Startropics. One of the finest Action/Adventure games of all time, but I never gave enough time to the second game.

Re: What was your first game system?
I got the original playstation for Christmas when I was 12. So this December, I'll have had the same one for 8 years... and I still use it. lol Them original playstations were fucking durable, not like this fucking retarded slim ps2 bullshit grr.
Even if it like breaks or something, I'm going to keep the system for sentimental value haha ^_^

It will be on it's 10th year in like a Month!
Bought it while working at my very first job, at some flea market on the weekends.
Hell, I bought it used even!
