Remake of Final Fantasy 8?

My friend has been trying to convince me that they're making my favorite (that's right, god dammit, if you don't like it post in another damn thread) Final Fantasy for the PS3, but when this is the most information I can find, it makes it easy to doubt him. Anybody who actually knows what's going on in the game world know anything about this business?

This is actually the first time I have heard about it, but considering the remakes and sequels to earlier Final Fantasy's...I imagine anything is possible.

Square is so hard up for more money out of their favorite cash cow series, that probably every FF will be remade at some point.

Besides that, I haven't heard of any work on an FF8 remake.

It would be funny if they remade FF8, and every other FF just to avoid remaking FFVII until they've got nothing left to remake, just to piss off all the fanboys. I'd lol.

Just release like 200 different sequels to FF7 and other FF games, but don't release an actual remake of FF7!

Thing is, I know that the rumor of a FF7 remake seems more than a rumor. Gossip is the game will be released late this year. Do I believe that? Yeah and no. But as for a FF8 remake, I have yet to hear of it. And I loved FF8. I wouldn't mind a remake.

FF7 remake has been rumored since like a year or 2 after the game was first released, so you can dismiss it as a crock of crap for the time being.

Not some FF7 fanboy anyway.
