Re: GTA 4
Well, to be honest...GTA isn't my kind of game at all.
Although I enjoyed the first 2 GTA games on Playstation 1, I started getting bored after that.

I got it the day it came out, but I haven't played very far into it. It's a lot of fun so far, and it's shaping up to be even better than San Andreas from what I've seen so far.

Re: GTA 4
And yet, it's just "moar bigger and bettarz!" like every GTA before it...
I was hoping for something new and refreshing this time, but apparently not.
Just more of the same thing the series has always offered, just bogged down with more and more annoying crap.

Re: GTA 4
It's truly great. Seriously, the problems you had with it before shouldn't be there. A lot of problems where fixed. The game is somewhat hard. Driving is more realistic, and harder, and it has a similar duck and cover system to gears of war. The story is really good. I really think this is the best game in the series.
My friend who dislikes GTA actually rented it, and liked it somewhat. But yeah dude, it's really damn good, really good imo.
My brother has been playing it non stop, kind of pissing me off, because I wan't to take it slow with the game.

Re: GTA 4
Well, I may at least try it...but I heard in some reviews that the camera was really bad, and there was supposed to be some control problems?
Ahh well, I don't have a PS3 or 360 yet anyway.

Yeah I did notice that, the camera is kind of sketchy at times, and the controls can be annoying, but it's easy to get used to.
Re: GTA 4
If the cameras are bad, I probably won't play.
Any game with really crappy cameras gets me pissed the heck off!

Re: GTA 4
It's not that bad. People who are complaining are just too lazy to adjust the cameras themselves. My only complaints about the game are that they removed some of the adjustable configurations of the main character. Niko Bellic (sp?), however, is a much more charismatic main character over CJ; at the very least, unlike CJ, Niko actually has a personality. I'm 50% through the game and I gotta say the story is outstanding, and as usual, the writing is very witty.
The multiplayer is good, but the single player experience is far better.

More like too annoyed to have to keep re-adjusting the damn thing.

You must've not been a big fan of Mario Sunshine. Seriously, though, the camera really isn't that bad. And, no, you don't even have to keep re-adjusting the camera. Play the game before you make any remarks, yeah?

Re: GTA 4
No, I have not liked any of the 3D Mario's.
For that matter, I have most 3D games because of camera issues.
I don't need to play GTA4 to know I won't like it, considering my thoughts on previous GTA games. You said yourself that not much has changed either.

Got the game yesterday for PS3. I haven't played it yet but from what I watched it looks to be decent. I liked reading the websites and all.

Sure, sure. What kept me playing it is its story. Unfortunately, I beat it last week and I got the SHITTY ending. I won't spoil shit for those who have played it, but I almost cried. It's pretty sad what happens.
Anyway, what made it so irritating about GTA4 is its missions. Rock* relied FAR, FAAAAR too heavily on the cat-and-mouse chase gameplay mechanic. It was just rinse and repeat ad nauseam. If it weren't for its story, I wouldn't have bothered playing through it at all.
With all that said, this is the only GTA game I've ever beaten and I'm rather proud of that.
Grave, if you want to play an extremely shitty game, look no further than Condemned 2: Bloodshot. Holy shit. What an overrated pile of dogshit.

I have never even heard of Condemned, so how can it be over-rated?

The very fact that reviewers all across the globe are giving it rave reviews; the average score being "8 out of 10" can easily deem it being overrated. Wtf is wrong with the people that like this game? I'm just not seeing it, I suppose.

Well, I guess it's kind of like me and how I can't understand the popularity of Grand Theft Auto and Call Of Booty, and other hyped up games like that.

Re: GTA 4
Yeah, Grave is right about different people liking different things. I think with the GTA series, they are always going to be over-hyped. Not saying that the game don't deserve it but I have yet to see an actual "perfect" game. This GTA just builds on what the developers know works and adds a bit of stuff that they hope works.

GTA is like the Madden of Action games.
Just add a few things and slap on a new title screen, and you have a new GTA.

Re: GTA 4
I finally got a chance to play GTA 4 for myself... And the one thing (besides getting and killing hookers) didn't really work for me. That being the online mode. Some reason I got kicked off. A lot. Must be related to what I read about them releasing a patch to fix it.

Well, for GTAIV's case was server overload, or whatever the fuck you wanna call it. It sucked, 'cause multiplayer was down for about...three days? Now it's running flawlessly. I'm assuming either Rock* or Sony wasn't expecting an overload on the servers. It really didn't bother me 'cause in this case, and it's very rare this happens, the single player trumps the multi player bar none.
