Where do you buy your CD's?

Assuming that you buy CD's, where do you usually buy them from?

Do you buy them from a favorite music store, do you buy them online, or just about anywhere that has something you are looking for?

I have this one CD store that I buy most of my CD's from, especially since they frequently have good used CD's for low prices.

How about you folks?

When I can, I usually purchase them over the web, since it's usually cheaper. I've only purchased one CD in a store, and that was David Gilmour's On an Island.

I bought CD's online twice, both at the same place.

Service was excellent,prices were great, and the shipping was extremely fast.

Something like a day or 2 after I ordered. Talk about fast!

Online, Wal-mart (you can get EVERYTHING there), malls, and too many other places...

I buy mine wherever I can find them, but it's usually Amazon.com or sometimes Ebay if it's online, and in stores, it's either FYE, Best Buy, or a local store that sells music among other forms of media called McKay's. I've bought a few CDs here and there at places like Wal-Mart but they usually never have what I'm looking for because they only carry what's considered popular.

FYE has a pretty good selection of music, as far as chains are concerned.

The prices are way too high however, so I don't shop there much unless i'm at the mall already anyway.

I agree that the prices are too high, so I really only buy something if it's on sale or I can't get it much cheaper anywhere else. I've also found a few used CDs for a decent price there.

I used to be a member of their discount club, but I really wasn't going there enough for the potential discounts to be worth it for me.

Last year I only went there once, which was the same day I paid $30 for my discount card

I can't stand that. I've looked for a few albums at wal-mart, but could never find any. Stores like Target, Wal-mart, K-mart, sears, whatever, usually don't sell the "not-so" popular music.

Yeah, Wal-Mart pretty much sucks with CD's.

Hell...I remember being shocked when I even saw TOOL there one time.

As much as I hate Best Buy, I have to admit they had a somewhat better music selection than a lot of other chain retailers.

They at least carried some Post-Rock and Metal.

I was actually surprised last time I went to Wal-mart; I noticed Dream Theaters Greatest Hit and other cool songs album there, but I didn't purchase it.

When I do buy CDs it's normally online or at Wal-mart or Kmart. But considering I don't buy them buy much, the stores seem to have the ones I look for. Except for the soundtrack for Sweeney Todd. Kmart don't have it and since working at a Kmart I don't go in Wal-mart a lot.

If I ever buy a CD, it's usually an impulse buy while browsing at some Best Buy or FYE.

FYE has shocked the fuck out of me with some of the CD's I have seen there at times.

They carry Darkthrones discography for fucks sake!

Yeah, they'll have the normal crap, but a real gem on occasion. It's pretty sweet.

I remember when they had a copy of Darkthrone's "Preparing For War" boxset, and that was a pleasant surprise...and I regret not getting it while I was there at the time
