Yeah, Grave is right about different people liking different things. I think with the GTA series, they are always going to be over-hyped. Not saying that the game don't deserve it but I have yet to see an actual "perfect" game. This GTA just builds on what the developers know works and adds a bit of stuff that they hope works.

GTA is like the Madden of Action games.

Just add a few things and slap on a new title screen, and you have a new GTA.

I finally got a chance to play GTA 4 for myself... And the one thing (besides getting and killing hookers) didn't really work for me. That being the online mode. Some reason I got kicked off. A lot. Must be related to what I read about them releasing a patch to fix it.

Well, for GTAIV's case was server overload, or whatever the fuck you wanna call it. It sucked, 'cause multiplayer was down for about...three days? Now it's running flawlessly. I'm assuming either Rock* or Sony wasn't expecting an overload on the servers. It really didn't bother me 'cause in this case, and it's very rare this happens, the single player trumps the multi player bar none.

Well, maybe you can answer a question I have on this. When one person leaves a session or whatever it's called, does that kick everyone off?

How could they not of expected a server overload?

They were well aware that Grand Theft Auto 4 would sell by the boat load, and they should have taken the proper precautions to deal with it.

It happens, dude. When Call of Duty 4 first came out for the 360, servers crashed. It's not like this is something that's unheard of. This is universal to any game. Anyway, the problem's been long since rectified, so the complaints are moot.

Well, with most 360 games that only happens when the host leaves, unless the game has host migration, where it would choose another person to host and the game will carry on.

Oh, see I got the PS3 one. I figured it might be the whole host leaving and booting everyone of.

Waaait a minute...that means we have to roll characters...dude, you know how troublesome this is going to be? "Everyone roll for initiative!" *wait for everyone's roll* *roll for enemies' initiative in contrast to our own*...my point is that this is so much better in real time

maybe if we could play a more simplistic form where we don't have to roll for, like, checking of search, seek, climb, swim, and any other skill...I dunno...also, how are we going to do percentage rolls?

Give me some insight please?

To be honest, I don't have the foggiest how we'll be handling that stuff.

We will have to work something out though, and fast. We have been talking for weeks Sad

Re: GTA 4

Post by Overdose Delusion on Mon Nov 24, 2008 12:23 am

I played this game a while back and really liked it. Very addictive, I could play it for hours on end without getting bored. Some of the missions were very entertaining, however, I enjoyed just fooling around the city and hanging out with friends as well. I also really loved the whole dark humour aspect the game had going.

I'm embarrassed to say that I never actually finished the game, though. What pisses me off about it is that I actually got to the very end, and wasn't able to beat the final mission because of that damned helicopter chase. I completely suck at the helicopter controls. Sad
